Fun, sexy, unique summer bikinis!

Us women know Colombian and Brazilian bikinis are the best, but finding a great one can be tricky or pricey in some cases. Why are these specific types of bikinis so special, they're one of the few kind who offer a variety of different bottom shapes (definitely NOT the traditional bikini bottom that gives your butt not such cute tan line!). These shapes can range from a more moderate shape that covers most of the goods, a "Brazilian cut" which shows most of the goods but gives a bit more coverage than a thong, and last the wonderful tanning tool- the thong! These are just the basic ones, and some brands offer a variety of their designs in different top and bottoms shapes to fit your needs.

Another great detail about these type of Bikinis are the creativity of their designs, such as trims (beading, piping, stitching, embroidery, lace, bows, sequins.. etc). They definitely make your swimwear stand out anywhere.I came across these fab pieces, and would love to share their site with you all.
Yum-Yum Bikinis, their styles are very similar to what is mentioned in this article, every bikini set is made uniquely different from every other design, making no two sets alike. One of a kind -loads of detail, colors, fun patterns and great shapes to choose from. Definitely will be investing in a few pieces myself!

One of my absolutely favorite sets (below) features a great color palette, and an eye-catching design!
You can find out more about their bikini line by visiting Yumyumbikinis.com, or adding them on Facebook at Yum-Yum Bikinis.

Summer Nails!

I was glancing at a magazine while in the salon one day (very typical of us ladies) when I came across this new Sally Hansen product. Sally Hansen has never let me down till this day, so I figured I'd try them out. They're called "Salon Effects", intended to give you a stylish salon-quality design without the the salon price and at home convinience.
They're "real" polish nail strips that come in a 16pck and in different nail sizes (one-size definitely does not fit all when it comes to nails!). You find the right size to fit your nail, peel the backing, position the strip and once you've got it where you want it, you use the cuticle stick (included) to smooth it out before removing the clear film ontop.. and walla! You've got a salon perfect mani or even pedi design. You can find them at store near you for under $10 bucks and come in all sorts of fun colors and designs!

I will say that they might take a few attempts to perfectionize (that's if your not a pro!) but other than that, they look great and last a little longer than regular polish. I highly recommend them! I actually used the "bling it on" shade to accent my recent mani and pedi (picture below).

For all you ladies in the Miami area looking for a nail expert, I can highly recommend you my manicurist and nail technician, Ines Rodriguez. You can add/message her on facebook to make an appointment or to check out some of her designs and work: Ines Rodriguez - Nail Technician

June Spotlight

As we all know summertime is the time to whip out the shades, bikinis and beach wear (unless of course you're from Jersey Shore and you just never take off your sunglasses! I kid I kid!). I found these great pair of Glassing Sunglasses for like $50 bucks at a random South Beach boutique.Their styles are very similar to Ray Ban's and Carrera's, and they're of course polarized to perfection. What I was most impressed by was the frame, very sturdy and almost as if they were scratch resistant (I've dropped mine a few times and not a single scratch). All that for under $60 bucks? Yeah definitely worth checking out! Here's what my pair look like (below).

Follow them on twitter @Glassingyou.

My inspiration for Summer.

I'm looking forward to taking some time off to work on my sketchbook, I have tons of ideas crammed in my mind for a few designs. One of my Muses, and source of inspiration is definitely THE Lee Alexander McQueen. Fashion is definitely a form of artistic expression and his vision and he's pieces are art, so incredibly pleasing to the eye. I love prints, but they can be very tricky... but I definitely want to play around with a different color palette and textures this season.

What do you guys think of this piece from McQueen's 2011 ready to wear Spring 2011 collection?

Great fashion editorial!

I was browsing last month's issue of Harper's Bazaar when I came across this ingenious fashion editorial featuring the cast from the movie "Bridesmaids". For those who haven't seen it "Bridesmaids" is a comedic chic flick, in which many critics called it the female version of the hit movie "The Hangover". I just love how these ladies joined forces with Bazaar and created this shoot themed in what seems like a feminine comeback to all those who mocked their "similarity" to what really is a completely different movie. As you can simply note from the spread's title "The Shopover", it is a comedic yet high-fashion take on to what seems to be the average material girl's over indulging shopping spree, featuring the latest Spring collections from top designers.

I absolutely love how they recreated actual looks from top designers, such as the look from Gucci's ready-to-wear spring collection (top left), one which I actually used in my sketchbook for my 2011 Spring inspiration for my Fashion Design class (picture below).

Check out Harper's Bazaar every month for great trends, you can definitely learn a thing or two!

Marcela

Opening of my online boutique!

It's been a year of madness.. but, I am delighted to say things are going pretty well for the opening of my online boutique, clothing by marceLA. I definitely can say since I've grown as a person, I have grown as a company. I am also excited to say that I will be participating in a few upcoming projects and collaborations, but I can't spoil the surprise! I am getting back to the drawing board, and the ideas and inspiration are coming out strong this season!

On another note I would really like to give more details about my online boutique. "marceLA", is the name of my brand, which also coincides to be my middle name Marcela. "marceLA" is all about being very feminine, sexy but not raunchy, and highly fashionable yet wearable -always keeping up with the latest trends. It will be a boutique in the sense of carrying brands from all over, from very inexpensive known brands to international and designer pieces, all while staying in a very affordable price range.

My goal is to put together pieces for every season, from shoes to accessories and from dresses to jackets and everything else in between. I will be the wise buyer shopping around for great buys and incredible pieces so you don't have to do those long trips to the shopping malls, and boutiques for everyday pieces. In the long run it will save you time and money, while being incredibly convenient.. like having your own personal stylist at click of a finger.

The idea is I want the clothes to be as realistic as possible. "Para gusto se hicieron los colores", as Oscar de la Renta once said, which basically means that colors were made to please taste. I won't dare sell a single piece that I wouldn't wear myself. My main focus is to incorporate my personal taste and knowledge, street style and high-fashion inspiration from designers in the fashion industry to create a vision.. marceLA.

To all my South Florida residents, other than shipping of course, I will also have the convenience of delivery or pick-up, as well as periodical trend/seasonal trunk cases, which are basically mini fashion shows in which the latest pieces will be shown and available for purchase or order.

Ladies stay tuned for the launch of my hand-made lingerie & bathing suit piece line ClaudNyne!

-kisses,
Marcela
